Biography

Andrew Thompson was born in Marlborough Township in 1851. He was the son of John Thompson and Jane Reynolds.

In the 1871 census Andrew (age 19) was in Marlborough, Carleton, Ontario, Canada.^[1]

He married Margaret Kidd. In the 1901 census Andrew (age 47) was the married head of household in Carleton, Ontario, Canada. They had one daughter, Clara Jane Thompson (age 5).^[2] Andrew's daughter Lila May Thompson was born on 28 September 1901 in Marlborough, Carleton, Ontario, Canada.^[3] In the 1911 census Andrew was the married head of household with three daughters in Carleton, Ontario, Canada.^[4]

Andrew, son of John Thompson, died (age 69) on 28 June 1920 in Marlborough, Carleton, Ontario.^[5]

MALAKOFF On Monday, June 28th 1920, there passed away one of f he life-long - and respected residents of this place in the person of Mr. Andrew Thompson. Deceased had been in good health and had performed his regular duties on Monday morning. During the forenoon he complained a little and retired about 10:30 and passed away at 11 o'clock, before medical aid arrived. Death is due to heart failure.

He leaves to mourn his loss, besides a host of friends, his wife and family, namely: Mrs. W. Wright, of Oxford Mills; Lila, of Carleton Place; Lena, at home; two brothers, Hugh, of Montague; and John, of Osgoode and one sister, Mrs. McCaffery, of Stittsville.

The funeral left his late residence on Wednesday to Malakoff Methodist Church and was under the direction of the Orange Order, of which deceased was an active member. Rev. Mr. Halpenny, of Oxford Mills officiated. The pallbearers were Messrs. R. Wallace, A. M. Wallace, S. Crawford, W. H. Pratt, W. J. McBryde and H.H. McCartney. Interment was made in Malakoff cemetery.^[6]
