Biography

Albert Jackson Thompson was born in 1829 in Indiana, United States.[1]

Albert J Thompson married his first wife, Sarah Moore on 15 October 1855 in Parke, Indiana, United States.[2]

In the 1850 United States Federal Census for Indiana, Parke, Union, District 137,[3] Albert Thompson, single, is working on a farm with Samuel and Ann Duree, relations on his mother's side.

In the 1860 United States census, Sarah Thompson (born about 1836 in North Carolina) was married to Albert Thompson (born about 1830 in Indiana). They were living in Union Township, Parke, Indiana, United States. They had three children: James B (born about 1856 in Indiana), Laura D (about 1858 in Indiana) and Mary (about 1860 in Indiana).[1] Another son was born about 1866, Charles Curtis Thompson. Sarah (Moore) Thompson died about 1869 according to her husband's obituary.

Research Note: Charles Curtis Thompson was the youngest son of Albert Jackson Thompson and Sarah Moore. Not to be confused with Charles Eli Thompson who is a different person born about the same time.

Sarah Moore and Albert J Thompson are identified as the parents of James B Thompson, at his marriage in 1908 in Vigo, Indiana. The record indicates James was born 23 Sept 1856 in Parke, Indiana. The record also indicates that Sarah Moore was born in North Carolina, but was dead by the date of this marriage.[4] James B. Thompson died in 1940. [4]

After the death of Sarah (Moore) in 1869, Albert J Thompson married second to Cynthia Ann Harney on 25 Sep 1872[5] Cynthia helped raise his children from his first marriage[6] [7] and also had additional children with Albert: Marion Jackson (1874-1913); Sarah Estelle (1878-1975); and Jessie Grace Thompson (1881-82).

Albert Jackson Thompson's obituary was published in the Rockville Tribune 18 Feb 1911, p.1. A copy was provided on Ancestory by JimmyGillis58 on 15 Apr 2020. It provides information about his service in the Civil War, and names both wives, and surviving children.

Marion Jackson Thompson married a cousin Iva Naomi Tuttle and had five children. Jesse Grace Thompson died young. Sarah Estelle Thompson married twice, but had no children.
