Biography

Charles Thompson was born in 1860 and baptised on 5 Aug 1860 at Wolverton, Warwickshire, England. He was the son of James Thompson and Sarah Hinson.[1][2]

In the 1861 census, Charles Thompson was age 10 months living at Wolverton, Warwickshire with his father James Thompson (24), mother Sarah Thompson (27), siblings Jane Ann Thompson (4), George W Thompson (3).[3]

In the 1871 census, Charles Thompson was age 10 living at Wolverton, Warwickshire with his father James Thompson (34), mother Sarah Thompson (36), siblings George W Thompson (13), Thomas Thompson (8), Elizabeth Thompson (5), Henry Thomson (2). Occupation: Ploughboy.[4]

In the 1881 census, Charles Thompson was age 22 living at 1 Redcliffe Square, Kensington, Middlesex as a servant in the household of Mary Armitage. Occupation: Indoor Manservant (Domestic Servt).[5]

Charles Thompson and Helen Maria Gregory married on 17 Jan 1889 at St Michael, Wood Green, Middlesex.[6] They had three children: Helen May Thompson (b. 1889), Phyllis Elizabeth Thompson (b. 1893), Charles Jack Thompson (b. 1901).

In the 1891 census, Charles Thompson was age 29 living at Finborough Road, Kensington, Middlesex with his wife Helen Thompson (26), child May Thompson (1). Also a boarder Annie Rodgers (26). Occupation: Man Servant Domestic.[7]

In the 1901 census, Charles Thompson was age 38 living at Finborough Road, Kensington, Middlesex with his wife Helen Thompson (34), children May Thompson (11), Phylis Thompson (7). Also a servant Edith Bence (22).[8]

In the 1911 census, Charles Thompson was age 22 living at 1 Redcliffe Square, Kensington, Middlesex. Occupation: Butler.[9]

Charles and his wife appear to have separated. He was living with his son Charles Jack Thompson at 11 Pond Place, Chelsea, Middlesex from 1933 to 1937.[10]

Charles died in late-1937 age 77 at Chelsea, Middlesex.[11]
