Biography
Rachel Thompson is a part of US Black heritage.
Rachel was born before 1838, based on her enslaver's inventory probated in 1855. Since she was the mother of two children, her year of birth was listed as "before 1838."
Rachel's last name at birth is as yet unknown, thus her enslaver's surname of Thompson is being used temporarily.
Rachel and her two children were slaves of Noah L Thompson (abt.1811-abt.1854) in Leon County, Florida. They were listed on his probate inventory on 3 Feb 1855 as being valued at $1400.[1]
When William Davis died, his probated inventory included the slaves who previously belonged to Noah Thompson. They were listed on April 6, 1855 in Davis' probate record.[2]
