Biography

James McGregor Thorburn was born about 1838 in Dalkeith, Edinburghshire, son of Robert Thorburn and Agnes (McGregor) Thorburn. [1]

He married Elizabeth Ann Geeves on 13 June 1871 in Canning Town, Essex, England. [2]

He appears in the following census years -

  • 1841 at Millers Close, Dalkeith, Edinburghshire. [3]
  • 1851 at Millers Close, High Street, Dalkeith, Edinburghshire where he was a rope spinner. [1]

He died on 11 May 1910 at 18 Mitchell Street, Dalkeith, Edinburghshire, age 72 years. He was a retired seaman Merchant Service. [4]
