Joshua Tilden of Coventry in the County of Tolland in the Sate of Connecticut testifies and declares that in January A.D. 1777 he was appointed an Ensign in Capt. Paul Brigham's Company in Col. John Chandler's Regiment in the Connecticut line of the Continental Army and served in ? Regiment one year from January 1777 in the capacity afore (vig) till some time in January 1778 according to the best of his recollection and was in Mud Fort in the State of Delaware when it was surrendered to the British and during the afore time he served faithfully against the common Enemy and was honorably discharged from service at Valley Forge in the State of Pennsylvania. He further said that he is reduced? in his circumstance in life and stands in need of assistance of his Country for support being very infirm and in the 73rd year of his age.
