Elizabeth was born on November 11, 1875^[1][2]. She is the daughter of Louis Tisdale and Ann Elliot.

In 1881^[3] she was French and Methodist living in Napanee, Ontario.

Elizabeth had one son William Alfred and he died shortly after his birth. Elizabeth and her husband Samuel were very close with their nephew Stewart Slater and when his parents died became like parents to him and grandparents to his children.
