Solomon Towne was born on 10 May 1774 in Boxford, Essex, Province of Massachusetts Bay, the son of John Towne and his wife Anne Cummings.[1]
He was a ship master and a miller in Boxford. He changed the fulling mill at Boxford to a grist mill. He employed his brothers, Asa and John as millers. He had 8 children.[2]
