Biography

Ural Jeptha Townzen/Townsend was born 6 March 1898 in Hopkins County, Kentucky.^[1][2][3] He was the son of John Madison "Bob" Townzen/Townsend and Virginia "Jennie" Dockery.^[1]

In the 1900 U.S. Census, Ural Townzen was recorded as 2 years old living in Charleston, Hopkins, Kentucky with parents James and Jennie Townzen and siblings Luther, Thomas, Lena and Herndon Townzen. ^[1]

On 12 September 1918, Ural, age 20, signed his World War I Selective Service System Draft Registration Card in Madisonville, Hopkins, Kentucky as "Ural Japhtha Townzen". He was employed as a farmer and his nearest relative was mother, Jennie Townzen ^[2]

He was married 29 March 1924 in Hopkins County, Kentucky to Neveline Campbell.^[4] They had two daughters.

On 16 February 1942, "Ural Jeptha Townsend", age 43, signed his World War II Selective Service System Draft Registration Card in Madisonville as "U. J. Townsend". He was employed by the Six Vein Coal Company Dawson Springs/Charleston and lived on Manitou Route #2 (Richland), Hopkins, Kentucky.^[3]

Ural J. Townsend died 27 April 1986 in the Peabody Rest Home in Florence, Kansas.
