Biography

John Treat married Esther Barber on 27 October 1774. [1]

According to The Treat Family, he died in 1801.[2]

At the time of his marriage, he lived in Lenox, Massachusetts. On July 14, 1774, He and his brother Ashbel signed a covenant pledging not to buy any British goods. He moved from Lenox to Coeymans sometime after 1798 and died there in 1801.[3]

He also served in the Revolutionary War:

  • In Capt John Bacon's Co; Col Caleb Hyde's Regt[4]
  • In Capt Josiah Yale's Co; Col Rosseter's Regt [5]

He had the following children:[6]

  • Esther (2 July 1775-1816); married Mosman Ayers
  • Elijah Treat, (27 June 1777 - 25 December 1851) married Esther Barber
  • John, married in 1897 to Charlotte Forman
