By his mid-twenties, Thomas became an ironmonger at Truro, Cornwall.[3]
On 10 May 1826 Thomas married Mary Stephens at Bridport Quaker Meeting House, Dorset. The Quaker marriage record describes him as an ironmonger of Truro, Cornwall, son of Samuel Tregelles of Falmouth, Cornwall, ropemaker, and his deceased wife Rebecca; and her as daughter of William Stephens of Bridport, draper, and Amy (Amy Metford[3]).[4][5] They had the following children:
Thomas died at Truro, Cornwall on 22 April 1836 and was buried on 28 April at Truro Quaker burial ground.[17][18][19] His will, dated 5 September 1835, was proved on 14 July 1836. In it he:[20]
described himself as an ironmonger of the parish of St Mary, Truro, Cornwall
left all his estate to his wife Mary for her use and the support of his children
appointed as executors his brothers-in-law John Pike Stephens and Silvanus Stephens ion Bridport, Dorset and his brothers Nathaniel and Edwin Octavius ion Neath, Glamorgan, Wales, making his executors guardians of his children
