Jacob was born about 1821, the son of William Trent and Wealthy Beaman. No son in his age category appears on William’s 1840 census. Perhaps he was living with a sibling or other relative by that time.
Jacob was baptized in Nov 1845 at New Union Baptist Church, formerly known as Little Flock Baptist Church.
He married Rachel Walters in Owen County, Indiana in 1846, with James Beaman officiating. They had at least three children and perhaps more.
In 1850, Jacob received a Letter of Dismissal from New Union Baptist Church, which is an indicator that he was about to leave the area. (His parents, along with brother and sister-in-law Gilbert and Charity, also received their Letters of Dismissal about the same time.)
Rachel married Thomas Steel in 1855 in Boone County Iowa and she appeared in the 1856 state census there with two additional children who may be Jacob’s. By 1870 this family, along with the mother of Rachel, was in San Antonio, Texas.
Jacob is presumed to have died between 1850, when he received his Letter of Dismissal in Indiana, and 1855, when Rachel married Thomas Steel in Iowa. No precise death date or location is known at this time.
