Biography

Florence Tunstall was born in Lancashire, England.

Florence was born in 1883. She was the daughter of John Tunstall and Annie Oughtibridge, ^[1] and was Christened at St Andrews Church Ancoats, Manchester on 26 July 1989 age 5. ^[2]

Florence lived with the family for most of her life. By 1891 they have moved from Manchester to Leeds, ^[3] and in 1901 are living in Wortley, Leeds. Florence is now 18 and working in a Cotton Mill. ^[4] By 1911, her mother has died and she is living with her father and brother and working in an Engineering firm, possibly something to do with making Rifle Cartridges. ^[5]

In 1939 Florence is living with sister Annie's family in Winnie Terrace, Leeds. She is a Domestic Servant but unemployed because of illness. ^[6]

Sometime after 1839 she had been addmitted to Highroyds Hospital, Menston, Yorkshire, where she died in 1941 age 58. ^[7] Probate record of 26 November 1941 confirms her address as Winnie Terrace, Leeds and date of death. ^[8]
