Butler Lee Turk was born on 20 February 1861 in Scott, Crawford, Wisconsin, United States. His father was James Turk (1822-1890), and mother, Sarah Greenlee (1822-1889). Butler married Angeline "Anne" Moore on 11 November 1883, in Richwood, Richland, Wisconsin, United States, ^[1] The couple would have 2 sons and 6 daughters. Butler L. Turk Dies Wednesday:

Contractor, Age 78, Passes Away at His Home Here

Butler L. Turk, 78, of 27 S. Murray St., retired contractor, died at his home here last night following a long illness. Mr. Turk was a resident of Madison for the past 40 years. Survivors are the wife; four daughters, Mrs. Cora Mason, Mrs. Bertha Boncher, Mrs. Alta Walker, and Mrs. Lillian Renkan, all of Milwaukee; and two sons, Harold and Lester, both of Madison. Services will be held Saturday at 2 at the Fitch-Lawrence funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery.

Research Notes:

There are indications that Butler Lee Turk may have had a second marriage later in life. There are differences between the 1905 Wisconsin Census, which shows a spouse named "Annie", that is 3 years younger than he; then the 1910 US Census lists his spouse as "Lizzie" that is 9 years younger, and with an infant. All of the other children's names are consistent between the two documents. Sources must be located prior to adding the second spouse.
