Research Notes
Note on Duplicate Records:
In addition to the records in Ipswich and Hamilton, there are duplicate records for the family of Simon and Phebe Tuttle in Gloucester, the product of a family tree which was present at the time the Tan Books for the town were compiled, in the early 20th Century. Winchendon records include some information on events which happened in Ipswich (Hamilton from 1793), where Simon and Phebe spent the first years of their marriage, possibly as the result of their later move to Winchendon, when names and dates for the family may have been entered into the town's record books. It would appear that the move to Winchendon from Hamilton occurred after the births of their three eldest children. The third child died in November of 1794 and the older two children were baptized in Hamilton in October of 1795. The move would, therefore, have come after October of 1795.
