I am having some difficulty with Margaret Uggs and Lady Margaret Copell. Someone on Ancestry has them married to a father and a son. I think that Lady Margaret (1507-1577) was married to Robert Ward (Warde) III (1490-1579) and that Margaret Uggs (1520-1587)was married to Henry Ward (1516-) If someone has this figured out, I would so appreciate a reply.
The profiles here are correct. It is as you described. Robert Ward married Margaret Capell, Henry Ward married Margaret Rugge (Ugg) The name is obviously corrupted if you read the sources provided. Anyway, one hint would be to avoid all Ancestry trees as sources. Ancestry has great access to records but the trees have a way of replicating errors that is unending, in my opinion. Cheers!
Hi, Chad, and thanks for the verification. I have undertaken a huge project, creating a family tree through four lines with stories and pictures (as many as I can collect) to make into a book for my grandchildren. I have hit some snags such as the one with the wives of the Wards and information on Ancestry where dates and place don't match and people put them in anyway. I started there because I knew some cousins had done some of the work ahead of me ( they are not in a sharing mood). And I didn't know this site existed. But it has been great to find the evidence already shared on this site. I am also stuck on a branch of the family from Abbeville, Georgia during the Civil War. I can't find anything older than that, and am assuming that either records were lost or these people were farmers and probably didn't read or write or keep records. Still digging. Thanks again,
Uggs-2 and Uggs-1 appear to represent the same person because: appear to represent the same person because: same person. The attached families of both profiles have duplicates (spouses, and parents, and some of the children). The lines need sorting (for children). Please Merge into lowest numbered profile (i.e. Uggs-1).
Thanks to ancestry.com, I was able to find out the dates and locations. More research is needed to be sure.
Also what country was she living in?
