Biography
Like her husband, little is known of Margaret. Her maiden name is not known for sure, but may have been Mosier, Messer, or Vander Messer. All that is known for certain of her is from census records 1850 and 1860 in Dade County, MO. I believe that her life paralleled her husband's life, even from birth. Most of the first settlers in Wayne County, IN were North Carolinians. I believe that Margaret's family were among these early settlers, and that James and Margaret met and married there. Her last known record was on the 1860 Dade County Census, so she most likely died sometime between 1860 and 1870, and was one of the 23 unmarked graves in the Fox Cemetery that were moved to Vaughn Cemetery to make way for Stockton lake in 1967.
