Born in Bradley County, TN, his family moved to Dade County, MO about 1855. He was a Private, L Company, 6th Missouri Cavalry, Union Army in the Civil War (as was two of his brothers). Married 29 Mar 1866, and settled near his parents place in northern Dade County, near Seybert, MO (now on the bottom of Stockton Lake) where he lived out his life. Buried originally in the Fox-Wilson Family Cemetery near his home. The cemetery was moved to be part of Vaughn Cemetery during construction of Stockton Lake.
