Biography

Sarah was born in England about 1803. She married William, who was also born in England. They came to America, and had a family.

In 1850, the Metcalf family lived in Moniteau, Moniteau, Missouri. The household included Joseph Metcalf, 60 born in England, a farmer; his wife, Sarah, 47, b. England; and their three sons, all b. Missouri: William, 9; Bartlett, 7; and Simeon, 2. [1]

In 1860, the Metcalf family lived in Moniteau, Missouri. The household included Joseph Metcalf, 70, born in England, a farmer, with personal assets of $60; his wife Sarah, 54, b. England; their sons, both b. Missouri, William, 18; and Bartlett, 16.[2]

In 1870, the Metcalf family lived in Linn Township, Moniteau, Missouri. The household included Joe Metcalf, 84, born in England (parents of foreign birth), a U.S. citizen, a farmer with $100 in personal assets; his wife S. (Sarah), 65, b. England, parents of foreign birth; and B.B. (Bartlett) Metcalf, 28, b. Missouri.[3]
