Hannah was born about 1817 in Massachusetts.
She was the mother of Civil War soldier John H. Bancroft of the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry - the first regiment in the United States made up entirely of enlisted men of color - who made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom of all.
S. Giles (Simas? Simon?) living with them in 1850 is the right age to be her father, so her maiden named might be Giles. Further research needed.
