HUGHES.—On Sunday the 4th inst., at her residence, Germanton, Catherine Hughes, the beloved wife of H. Hughes, aged 69. Deeply regretted.

I have to announce the death of Mrs. Hughes, an old resident of the distrlct, who being a sufferer from heart disease for many years, succumbed during the week after a great struggle for life. Probably the long period of excessive heat aided the malady. The remains were interred in the Germanton Cemetery.

HUGHES.— In loving remembrance of our dear mother, Catherine Hughes, who passed away after a painful illness on the 4th February, 1900, at her residence, Germanton.

We miss our own dear mother,

Who died twelve months to-day,

When aching hearts stood round her bed,

But could not make her stay.

Away from the noise and hustle,

Away from the busy streets,

In the quiet Germanton cemetery

Our own dear mother sleeps.
