Her surname is elusive. On some documents they have her other married name, Magee, some say Slow, or Slou, and the actual death certificate looks like Edelslou.

Johanna Rebecca was illegitimate and only later indicated that James Slow was her father. According to her 2nd marriage record (Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Somerset Road, Cape Town), he was her deceased father. Johanna had 10 children - the first two used the surname SLOW, while there were three children from her first marriage to Frederick Simon George Schiebe, two children from her second marriage to Joseph McGee, and three children from her relationship (later marriage) to Nicholas Peters.
