Malissa (Unknown) Red is a part of US Black heritage.

Malissa was born about 1850 in Mississippi. She was probably an enslaved woman who became free after the U.S. Civil War. Her parents may have been born in South Carolina.

Around 1869, Malissa married Levy Redd. The couple farmed together and raised their family in Holmes County, Mississippi. Their children were:

Malissa passed away after 1880.
