Winnifred Dunn was among the slaveowners who lived in Columbia County, Georgia.

In the 1820 census Mistress Winifred Dun was in Capt Horatio Gatrells District, Columbia, Georgia, United States.[2]

It is believed that Winny may have been recorded as follows in the 1830 census: Free White Persons - Females - 60 thru 69: 1 That is consistent with her birth year being about 1760 (1760-1770). If this is her, she was living with grandson Waters and his new wife Nancy Doggett.[3]

The above is true if she were recorded twice. She also appears to have been recorded with her son Albert. He would later administer her estate when she passed away in 1836. Information in the estate records document she had 28 enslaved people. It would appear this would be the largest portion of enslaved people associated with the household of Albert J Dunn. [4]

Winny outlived her husband by nearly 30 years. She outlived most of her children as well.
