Biography
Henry was born in 1842,[1] the son of Robert and Martha Uphill.
1851 - Nedge, Chewton Mendip.
1861 - Nedge, Chewton Mendip. Boarding with William and Mary Dallimore. Works as a blacksmith.
30 March 1863 - marries Mary Pope Sherborne in Litton, Somerset.
2 March 1871 - Nedge, Chewton Mendip. Blacksmith
7 Aug 1873 - arrested for attempting to murder four of his children by placing a candle under their bed while they slept. Dismissed. [2]
4 Aug 1874 - Sureties of the Peace - for want of sureties to keep the peace towards his wife. 6 weeks unless he find sureties. He left prison on 14 September 1874.
Henry Uphill, of Chewton Mendip, blacksmith, was fined 30s, and 10s costs, for refusing to leave the beerhouse at Green Ore being drunk and disorderly. [3]
Henry Uphill and Elihu Church, of Chewton Mendip, were summoned for not sending their children to school [4]
Burial date - 3 March 1881 in Chewton Mendip. [5]
