Biography
Jan Pieter Jeremias was born on 10 February 1837 in Clanwilliam, Cape Colony; he was the son of Andries Nicolaas van Kraayenburg and and Hubrecht Elizabeth Susanna (van Wyk) van Kraayenburg.
He married Geertruida Cornelia van der Berg (possibly in Lydenburg in about 1865). Children born of this union were:
- Cornelia Geertruida van Kraayenburg, born 26 January 1867 in Lydenburg
- Andries Johannes Nicolaas van Kraayenburg, born 19 December 1874.
Geertruida passed away in 1881 and the 46-year-old widower then married 42-year-old widow Susanna Dorothea Jacoba (Oosthuizen) Smit in Lydenburg, ZAR, on 21 May 1883.[1]

Jan is believed to have passed away in about 1891. There is no trace but an application by the widow of JDJ van Kraayenburg for a piece of land on the Witrivier, Lydenburg, might give an indication?[2][3]
