June 10, 1928 to September 6, 2006
Virginia Catherine Wright (Kitt) was set free of her earthly bonds after a long battle with breast cancer.
As a young woman in Cleveland, OH, Kitt was known as a talented singer, musician and dancer. Attractive as she was talented, she was a fashion model from 1947 until 1948, when she joined the Navy and became a W.A.V.E.
While serving she met and married Marine Sgt Craig Howard Angel, sang w ith the Ohio Bell Choir, and entertained hospitalized patients at Crile Military Hospital. She and Craig divorced in the early 1960's.
As a testament to her character, as a single mother of four, she ran for the Upland City Council in 1966 and served as a San Bernardino County Commissioner, helping to establish the Ontario Youth Center and Day Care Center for the Office of Economic Opportunity.
She was married to veterans Henry Cecil Potts of Ontario for 25 years until his death, then she met Edward Allen Wright of Sacramento when both were in a grieving group that Kit led. They married in 1997.
Over the years, as the family traveled from one marine base and location to another, Kitt worked for several government agencies in California, North Carolina, New Mexico and Maryland. She was Secretary to the Seniors Club, and a member of the Ontario Writers Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Neighbors of Woodcraft, Widowed Persons Association of California (which she facilitated), and AARP.
Kitt is survived by daughters: Laurie Catherine Angel (husband, Charles Winn Fowler), Virginia Anna Angel (hus band, Paul Foley) and sons: Peter Howard Angel (wife, Miriam Xavier) and Edward Carson Angel; grandchildren: Jason Howard Angel, Jacqueline Rosas Angel, Michelle Rosas Angel, Christopher Carson Angel, Alexandra Xavier Angel, Conor Carson Foley and Kevin Carson Angel; 9 great grandchildren; her brother Peter Vargo and his family and numerous step children, step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, and cousins.
She is predeceased by her second husband, Henry Cecil Potts and parents: Cleveland Police Detective Peter Vargo and wife, Virginia.
She will be interred at the Riverside National Cemetery in California.
The family wishes to express our appreciation for the kind, thoughtful and loving care and wishes she received from Kaiser Hospice, Christ Community Church and her friends. Mom - we wish you a beautiful voyage and peace.
