Enrico Vasto was born about 1075. He was the son of Manfredo Saluzzo and nephew of Bonifacio del Vasto (Saluzzo-12) who was closely allied with the Altavilla of Sicily. He emigrated to Sicily fowing the policy of the Norman of Sicily and in particular of Count Roger I Hauteville (who married his sister Adelaide (Vasto-) and whose daughter, Flandina, he married),of encouraging the franco-latin (Christian-Catholic) immigration of so-called "Lombardi" (in reality from Piedmont and Liguria), in order to counter-balance the Greek and Moslem share. Enrico was well settled in the court of the Altavilla by 1094, after the marriage of his sister in 1087 and partecipated to various battles to secure Sicily and south of Italy to Roger, winning several feuds, both in Sicily and on the mainland. His descendants were considered the leaders of the Aleramici family branch of Sicily. He passed away in 1137 in the Kingdom of Sicily.
