Biography

Daniel Vick was born in 1897. He was the son of Samuel Vick and Annie Washington.^[1] Daniel was in a directory in 1916 as a student living with his parents at 623 E Green, Wilson, North Carolina.^[2].

Daniel registered for the draft in Wilson County, North Carolina.^[3] He was inducted as a private on 15 October 1918 in the Students Army Training Corps at the Negro Agricultural and Technical College in Greensboro, North Carolina.^[4] The US War Department created the Student Army Training Corps (SATC) as a way to hasten the training of soldiers for the war. Students would enlist in SATC and simultaneously take college courses and train for the military. He was honorably discharged on 11 December 1918.^[5]

In the 1920 census Daniel (age 22), office building manager, was the single boarder of Charles L Jones in Washington, Washington, District of Columbia.^[6] Daniel again registered for the draft on 16 February 1942 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He lived at 125 North 58th Street in West Philadelphia's Haddington neighborhood.^[7] In the 1950 census Daniel (age 52), railroad company janitor, was the married head of household in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States.^[8]

Daniel died on 26 September 1975.^[9][10]
