Biography

Cornelis Viele was born about 07 March 1709, he lived in Ulster County, NY; cordwainer (leatherworker); member Foot Co. Militia

Cornelis was a member of Foot Co. Militia of Cor. of Kingston (Capt. Tjerck de Witt). (Doc. His., N. Y., Vol. IV, p. 229).

  • 1770. Warrant of Survey to determine lands of Cornelis Viele and others in Dutchess Co.
  • 1771. Pet. of Cornelis Viele and others for patents in Poughkeepsie.
  • 1771. Cornelis Viele witness to will of Jacobus De Lemettre July 19. (His. Soc. Wills, Vol. VIII, p. 15)
  • 1783. Received the will of Cornelis Viele (in Dutch). Proved Mar. 29, 1783. (Mun. Col., Vol. II, p. 128)
