Biography
The son of Erwin Waelde and Frances (Greenleaf) Waelde, John Waelde was born in Milton, New York[1] in 1890, residing with his family in Marlborough, New York.[2][3] By 1910, John and his family lived in Kingston, New York.[4] John moved to Detroit with his older brother, William.
John married Adelaide M. Purdy (1888-1973), the daughter of Isaac B. Purdy and Margaret Freer, marrying around 1913[citation needed] and having three known children together:

John registered for the World War I draft when he was 26, registering in Detroit, Michigan on June 5, 1917.[5] He stated that he lived with his family, residing at 716 Rohns Street in Detroit, and that he worked as a welder for Packard Motor Car Company at East Grand Boulevard and Bellevue in Detroit. John was described as a slender man, 5'5" tall, with dark brown hair and brown eyes. He did not enlist.
In 1920, residing with his family at 1450 Fischer Avenue in Detroit, John worked at the automobile factory, working as a tool maker.[6] By 1925, John had left manufacturing and begun work as a clergyman in the Methodist church; that year, he lived in Rhinebeck, New York,[7] residing by 1930 in Germantown, New York.[8] By 1940, they lived in Mingo Junction, Ohio, in Jefferson Township.[9]
John Waelde passed away in Claremont, California,[10] passing away at the age of 79.
