Mary Waggoner was born March 29, 1767, a daughter of Philip Waggoner, born 1720, in Germany. Mary's father immigrated to Pikeland Township, Chester county, Pennsylvania, where he served as a Second Lieutenant during the American Revolutionary War. Applications for membership in the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution have been made by the descendants of Mary Waggoner and her husband, David Shotts. [1]
Mary's husband died in 1825 and was buried on the Shotts Farm located on the southwest side of Denver Road (Township Road 165) about 1.5 miles south of its intersection with Ohio State Route 772. The cemetery is located in Huntington Township, Ross County, Ohio, and is # 10483 (Shotts Cemetery) in “Ohio Cemeteries 1803-2003”, compiled by the Ohio Genealogical Society.
Mary survived her husband, and passed away August 3, 1862, at the age of 95 years. She is buried in the Bishop Hill Cemetery, in Chillicothe, Ross county, Ohio. [2]
