Biography

Jessie Walker was born on the September 2, 1896 in Widnes, Lancashire, England, United Kingdom. She was the youngest daughter of George Walker & Sarah Ann Green.

In the 1901 census Jessie (age 4) was the daughter of George Walker in Widnes, Lancashire, England. Her father was a Chemical Labourer.^[1]

In the 1911 census Jessie (age 14) was the stepdaughter of Robert Johnson, chemical labourer, in Widnes, Lancashire, England. There's no indication she attended school.^[2]

Jessie's marriage to James Seddon was registered in the Oct-Nov-Dec quarter of 1917 in the Prescot district.^[3]

In the 1921 cenus Jessie (age 24) was living with her husband at 10 Edmund Street, Crompton, Lancashire, England. She worked as a cardroom hand and James worked as a general labourer, both working t Wye Ring Spinning Company in Shaw, Lancashire. There were no children in the home.^[4]

In the 1939 register Jessie (age 43) was recorded as married at 170 Rochdale Road, Crompton, Lancashire, England. Her husband was an assistant engineer in a cotton factory.^[5]

Jessie Seddon's death (age 74) was registered in the Apr-May-Jun quarter of 1971 in the Salford district.^[6]

Research Notes

No conclusive evidence of a child from this marriage. The 1921 census was purchased in the hope of finding a clue from her birth location or possibly a child relationship. There were no children in the home in 1921, so Constance, who was living in their home in 1939 could not have been their child (or, if she was, she lived elsewhere & no conclusive records were found for her elsewhere in Lancashire. There were no children named Constance born with Mother's Maiden Name Walker in about 1917. A search was completed for her with the surname Walker, as well, in case she was born prior the marriage
