William Isaac Wallis was born on 16 February 1865 at Wadhurst, Sussex, England[1]. He was the son of Isaac Wallis and Eliza Fuller.
William appears with his parents in the 1871 England Census, and with his widowed mother after the death of his father in 1880, in the 1881 and 1891 England Census. William was working from a young age and was a House Boy in 1881 and an Agricultural Labourer 1891.
In the second quarter of 1891, the marriage of William Isaac Wallis to Marjory Lindsay Ewing, was recorded in the Registration District of Cranbrook, Kent, England[2].
William and Marjory had three children: William Ewing, Randolph Fuller and Douglas Lindsay Wallis.
In the 1901 England Census, William Wallis, 36 year old married Gardener born Wadhurst, is living at No. 2 Mills Cottages (Riseden), Wadhurst, Sussex, England, with his wife Marjory (born Scotland) and children Ewing and Douglas (born Mayfield, Sussex)[3].
In the 1911 England Census, William Wallis, 46 year old married Gardener (domestic), is residing at Riseden Cottage, Wadhurst, Sussex, England with his wife Marjory and children Douglas and Randalph Wallis. Boarders George Newman (aged 23 and a Coachman), Dorothy Warner (aged 10) and Elise Burner (aged 8) live in the same household. Douglas is employed as a motor mechanic and Randalph is a Carriage Painter[4].
In the 1939 England and Wales Register, William, Gardener retired, and Marjory Wallis are living with their unmarried son William E Wallis (Incapacitated, 100% disabled Army Pension) at No. 20 Annurein Avenue, Worthing, Sussex, England[5].
William Isaac Wallis died on 27 October 1956[6] and probate was granted on his estate on 19 December 1956.
"WALLIS William Isaac of 1 St. Marys-cottages Battle Sussex died 27 October 1956 Probate London 19 December to Barclays Bank Limited. Effects £894 19s. 2d."[7]
