Catherine Mary Walter was the 3rd child, and eldest daughter of the Rev. Edward Newton Walter. She was born in 1793.
On 9 Jan 1824, she married Dr William Dermer, at St Oswald's Church, Ashbourne, Derbyshire. They had 10 children, with 4 of those children dying young.
The family moved to Tasmania in 1830 and stayed there until 1850, before returning to England.
