Spelling of family surname:
The spelling of this family surname seems to vary considerably in the records. Mostly in later years it is seen as Waine/Wayne but older records can also be seen as Wane, Wanne, Wan, Wann and Wain. For Wikitree purposes, the persons in this family line shall be named according to the earliest documented record available, i.e. civil birth record or baptismal record if available. If these are not available, the marriage record or death record will be used, and if none of these, then according to the name on census returns or other documents. Variations will be noted in the sources below.
Civil birth record:
No civil birth record is available for Christopher because records did not begin until 1864. The baptism record is the primary source of information about his birth.
Civil death record:
The burial record at Glasnevin in 1866 which states Christopher was 6 years old matches with his birth/baptism record. However, no civil death record has been found matching this. There is a civil death record for Christopher Wan in 1866 but the age given is 1 year, so it is not clear if this is the same child with an incorrect age or a different child. The original image of the death record has not been examined as it it is not publicly available yet. This needs further research.
Cause of death:
If the civil death record image is viewed, it should indicate the cause of death and this can be added to the biography in this profile.
