Biography

Amelia Wareham was born in 1845 ^[1] at Witchampton in Dorset the daughter of George Wareham and his wife, Kitty Knight. She was baptised there on 1 June 1845. ^[2] Her father died in 1847 when she was only two years old. In 1851 Amelia, her mother and her sister and brother were living in Horton. ^[3] Amelia has not yet been found in the 1861 Census. Her mother married later that year to Stephen Whitlock, an agricultural labourer of Horton. ^[4]

Amelia has gone into service and in 1871 she was working in the household of Edward Hibbs, upholsterer of the High St, Wimborne Minster. ^[5] The following year Amelia was back in Horton to marry Samuel Kendall, son of Samuel Kendall and his wife, Mary Allen at St Wolfrida on 3 December. ^[6][7] They settled at Haythorne Common, Horton and together had at least two sons and a daughter. ^[8]

Amelia died in 1885 aged 37, her death being registered at Dorchester. ^[9] She was buried at St Wolfrida on 17 November. ^[10]
