Nelda M. Pickard passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13th at the Ottawa General Hospital. She was 95. Originally from Gagetown, New Brunswick, she was a long time Ottawa resident. Nelda was proud to be a nurse for over 44 years, serving first as a nursing sister during WWII and subsequently in Vancouver, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Gimli, Manitoba, and at the National Defence Medical Center in Ottawa prior to her retirement. She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, W.M. (Bill) Pickard, her daughter Maureen and son-in-law Layton O’Brien of Metcalfe, Ontario, her son Roger and daughter-in-law Pat Pickard of Flemington, NJ, her three granddaughters, Bethany, Regan, and Jamie Pickard, her brother, Wendell (Rob) Warman of Barrie Ontario, and her sister, Wanda Harding of Fredericton, New Brunswick.
