John Borlase Warren born 2 September 1753 in Stapleford, Nottinghamshire, the son and heir of John Borlase Warren (died 1763) of Stapleford and Little Marlow and Bridget Rossell, da. of Gervase Rosell of Radcliffe-on-Trent. ^{[2] [3]}

Able Seaman and Admiral, diplomat and politician.

Spent most of his life whingeing about being underpaid and under-rewarded, and applying for peerages, which he never got.

" But his earlier career reveals that he was at times a dashing and successful tactician. His conduct of the naval war, while not marked with spectacular successes, nevertheless helped to relieve the pressure on the Canadas and meshed well with Prevost’s land strategy. " ^[4]

He died when on a visit to Sir Richard Keat, at Greenwich Hospital.
