Biography
Essie was born in Baum, Cooke County, Texas, in 1889, the daughter of William Allen Warthen and Mary Adeline Wilkerson. [1] Her mother died in 1891, and she was raised by her maternal grandparents, Samuel Wyatt Wilkerson and Martha Ann Cox. [2]
She passed away in 1980.
