Samuel Wasselby is best known as the first husband of Bridget (Playfer) (Wasselbee) (Oliver) Bishop, who is known for being the first person executed for witchcraft in Salem. They were married in Norwich, Norfolk, England on 13 April 1660. They had two known children, both of whom died young. The death record for his son Benjamin notes that he was a mariner living on King Street in Stepney, London, England.
He is presumed to have immigrated with his wife to Boston in 1665, but this is not known for certain. His daughter Mary was born in Boston on 10 January 1665 at which time he was noted to be deceased.
