James was born son of John Watson and Sally before the 10 May 1818 at Marton, Lancashire, England.^[1]

James, son of John Watson & Sally Watson, was baptised on 10 May 1818 in Poulton le Fylde, Lancashire, England. His father was John and working as a Weaver by the Rev T Bryes. They were leaving at Greater Morton, Lancashire, England.^[2]

James was convicted of Stealing Cloth 21 April 1828 and convicted to 7 years transportation, at Bough of Liverpool, England. He was 4 foot eleven at the age of 14 years old, with brown hair and hazel eyes.^[3] James was transported on Marquis of Huntley in 21 August 1830 to Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.^[4]

James Watson married Elizabeth Smith 18 May 1841 at Sydney Scots Church, Margaret St Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. ^[5]

James passed away 14 August 1889 at Peakhurst, New South Wales, Australia and is buried the following day at Balmain Cemetery, Leichhardt, New South Wales which is now called Pioneers Memorial Park, Leichhardt. ^[6]
