Biography

George A. Watts was born on 11 December 1851 in Montpelier, Muscatine County, Iowa, United States, son of John Watts (1822–1890) and Elizabeth A Ringsby (1820–1885).

George married Emma E. Porter on 17 February 1873 in Muscatine, Iowa, United States.^[1]

According to "History of Muscatine County, Iowa, Vol II" , George was living in South Dakota at publication time.^[2] On the 1910 census, George and Emma were living in Wellington, South Dakota withs several of their children.^[3]

According to the "Taming the Tree" online tree, George died on 11 March 1911 in Clarion, Iowa, aged 59.^[4] However, census records indicate that George was still living in South Dakota in 1920, and there is a 1932 Minnesota death record for George Watts son of John born in Muscatine, Iowa.^[5] Possibly the 1911 death date is that of his wife Emma, as George is listed as widowed in 1920.
