Biography
Samuel Simon Wayte was born on 7 December 1795 and was baptised on 10 February 1796 at Calne, Wiltshire[1]. He was the son of Dr. Alline "Alan" Wayte and Elizabeth Fripp.
MARRIED—Tuesday, St. James’s church, Samuel S. Wayte, solicitor, of this City, to Mary, youngest daughter of the late Samuel Fripp, Esq.[2]
They had the following children:
Samuel William Wayte (b. 28 Oct 1819, d. 7 Sep 1898)
Charles Matthew Wayte (bapt. 9 Jan 1822, d. 18 Jan 1876)
Alline James Wayte (b. 14 Mar 1824, bapt. 17 Apr 1824, d. Jun 1844)
Sadly his wife Mary Wayte passed away on 10 August 1825.
In the 1841 England Census, Samuel S Wayte (aged 45 and an Attorney-at-Law) was recorded living with his two sons Charles M Wayte (19 and a Student in Medicine) and Alline J Wayte (17) at 2 Lower Harley Place, Clifton, Gloucestershire. Also in the household were two female servants.
He married, secondly, Mary Frances Ward (the daughter of Seth Stephen Ward) on 2 February 1842 at St Giles, Camberwell, Southwark, by Licence date 29 January 1842[3].
They had one daughter; Alice Wayte (bapt. 5 Jan 1843)
His second wife Mary died in 1843.
Samuel continued to live in Clifton, Gloucestershire with his daughter Alice.
He passed away on 9 April 1880 and was buried on 14 April 1880[4][5]. His Will was proved on 26 April 1880 at Bristol to his only surviving son the Reverend Samuel William Wayte, 10 Tottenham Place, Clifton, the sole Executor[6]. Personal Estate under £5,000 Resworn June 1881 under £12,000
