Nathan was born in Laurens Co., GA and came with his parents and siblings to Morgan Co., AL around 1845. On 4 Jan 1854 he married Harriett Aycock there. He fought in the Civil War as Pvt Co. E, 12th Alabama Cavalry.
He and Harriett had at least 5 children whose names were listed on the censuses as follows:
