George was an American Indian (Missisippi River band of Chippewa Indians - Gull Lake sub-band) whose family lived on the White Earth Indian Reservation near Mahnomen, MN (The White Earth Band of Ojibwe). He had 7 siblings, some of whom lived in the Twin Cities. He was admired by all but was especially loved by his nieces and nephews.
He served in the US Army from 1942 through 1945.
George was diagnosed as having pulmonary tuberculosis when he was 38 years old. He spent over 6 months in the Glen Lake Sanatorium before being discharged to complete his recuperation at home.
George met Marie when they were both working at a restaurant called "Tasty Sandwich Shop". They dated, became engaged and married within about a 9 month period. His next job was at the "Forum Restaurant" in downtowm Minneapolis, before finishing his career at a pastry shop.
He fought a valient battle with cancer before finally losing to it. George is survived by his wife, Marie.
