Herman S. Webber was wounded at the Battle of Fair Oaks (aka Seven Pines, aka Fair Oaks Station), in Virginia, transported 8 Jun 1862 to the hospital on David's Island off New Rochelle, Westchester, New York where he was treated including amputation of his arm. but succumbed 30 Jun1862 to tetanic convulsions.
He was buried at Cypress Hill, 30 Jun 1862, grave number 143. Apparently, he was later returned to Vassalboro for burial in Webber Cemetery, aka Webber Pond Road Cemetery.
