Biography

Biological father of Christine Wehrlin (Adopted name Barbara Christine Mensch, married name Barbara Christine ( Mensch) Bender. Children: 1. George N. Wehrlin, Sr. 2. Katie Wehrlin 3. Jesse (Wehrlin) Griel Kuntz, 4. Christine Wehrlin and Margret (wehrlin) Griel and a possible additional child.

Spouse: Maria 'Mary' (Kohn) Wehrlin

George claimed is from France and left his family in Buffalo, NY in1883 taking the newborn with him and left 5 children, ages 1-12 alone as orphans. What happened to his wife Mary (Kohn) Wehrlin is unknown at this time. George worked for the NY Central RR in East Buffalo, NY. and had an employee rail pass to travel anywhere in the US.

George's US passport application has been found and a letter from the German consulate in 1922, with a picture of the applicant. On the application it states that George was in Redwood, San Mateo, California (1930 US Federal Census), but typed in above this date it states 1883. He traveled to Germany, France, Belgium, Holland and Switzerland in 1923 at age 67. "Georg" Wehrlin's address was 310 Jefferson Street, Redwood City, California and was listed as "s", single. He became a naturalized citizen 9/4/1894 in the Superior Court, San Francisco. His occupation was: Gardener as stated on the application. On the application it stated that George's father was George Wehrlin, born in Germany and is dead. He stated that he emigrated to the US, sailing from Havre, France about May 1883 and that he resided for 39 years unnterrupted in the US from 1883.

In the 1930 US Federal Census, George was 74, (b.-1856) single and residing in Redwood City San Mateo, California, US. According to the census George was 74 in 1930 and immigrated to the US in 1883. It states that George's Parent's birthplace is Germany. George was listed as single, spoke German and English, paid no rent and did not own his home and he was not a veteran. Occupation listed was: Watchman at Rock & Grand Ceo.

George N. Wehrlin, Sr., George's eldest child-son died 4 years after George Wehrlin, see headstone pictures.

George's Tomb marker has his last name spelled incorrectly as opposed to the spelling on his passport application along with corroborated address, etc.. Evidence was also found that his birth date month was purposely inaccurate in multiple documents. It is believed it was for the purpose to never be found.

To this day (2019) his wife's grave, obituary has never been found as wel as a marriage license, although the search continues.
