In 1860 Johann George Weisel was a farmer in Manchester Township, Green Lake County, Wisconsin. This township/area was referred to as the "German Settlement" and his brother, Conrad Weisel, had a farm nearby.

In 1867 the Inglehart Church was built. The early pioneer settlers including Johann Georg, his wife and children, initially worshiped in a log cabin. Johann Georg's son William was the second marriage performed in the new church.
In 1870 Johann Georg and family were farming in Kingston Township, Green Lake County, Wisconsin.

John Geo. Weisel, an old and esteemed German resident of this community, died in Minneapolis Saturday, the 16th inst, at the ripe age of 88 years. The body was brought here Tuesday accompanied by his two sons. Funeral services were held in this village, and the remains were then taken to the German settlement for burial.

Johann Georg Weisel and his wife Katharina Elisabetha Grieb are buried in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Cambria, Columbia County, Wisconsin. In the foreground of the Inglehart Church lie the graves of Johann Georg, his nephew Konrad Weisel and Konrad's young son.[12]
