Biography

Sally R (Wesley) McCoy is a part of US Black heritage.

Sally Ruth was born about 1921. She was the daughter of Mack Wesley and probably his first wife, Janie Reed. She passed away in 2014.

In the 1930 census Sally (age 9) was the daughter of Mike Wesley at 664 Route 1, Hill Township, Pulaski, Arkansas. Step mother and two sisters were also present.^[1]

In the 1930 census Sally R. (age 9) was the daughter of Mack Wesley at 2800 Main St, E-Side, North Little Rock, Pulaski, Arkansas. Her stepmother and two sisters were also present.^[2]

On 1 Mar 1940, Thomas McCoy (age 21) married Sally McIntosh (age 19) in Pulaski, Arkansas.^[3] [Is "McIntosh" a clerical error or was Sally Wesley married previously?]

In the 1940 census Sallie McCoy (age 19) was the wife of Thomas McCoy (age 21) in Little Rock, Pulaski, Arkansas.^[4]

In the 1950 census Sally R. McCoy (age 29) was the wife of Thomas C McCoy (age 30), Plasterer, in Little Rock, Pulaski, Arkansas, with six children ages 0 to 9.^[5]

Her husband, Thomas Charles McCoy Sr, 64, died on 23 Jul 1983 in North Little Rock, Arkansas. His obituary in the 25 Jul 1983 issue of the Arkansas Democrat named spouse Mrs. Sally Ruth McIntosh McCoy, their eight children, and his six siblings.^[6]

Sallie Ruth McCoy was born 20 Feb 1921 and died 17 May 2014. She was buried in Haven of Rest Cemetery, Little Rock, Pulaski, Arkansas.^[7]

The obituary of Sally Ruth Mccoy, 93, in the 23 May 2014 issue of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette' named her six surviving children and two daughters-in-law.^[8]

Research Notes

• Yes, Sally Wesley appeared in two different 1930 census records.
• The repeated use of McIntosh as Sally's maiden name is a mystery. The obituary of Sally's mother, Lannie Bradley Wesley, in the 9 Oct 1981 issue of the Arkansas Democrat named four married daughters, including Mrs. Sally McCoy.^[9]
